A Framework conta com exemplos de processos prontos para serem adaptados e ferramentas que são suportadas por vários tipos de projetos e formas de desenvolvimento. A suíte é composta por uma ferramenta baseado no Eclipse que descreve o processo (EPF Composer) e alguns processos já prontos para serem customizados como: BasicUP que é uma versão básica do RUP (Rational Unified Process) e XP (eXtreme Programming) que descreve um processo de desenvolvimento Ágil.
Para descrever o processo a ferramenta mistura conceitos de disciplina de Engenharia de Software, ciclo de desenvolvimento, iteração, papeis, tarefas e descrição de como tudo deve ser feito. O cruzamento destes dados é feito de forma lógica gerando uma arvore de conhecimento que pode ser visualizada pelo Browser, bem parecido com o RUP da IBM. O Eclipse EPF não tem custo! O projeto é patrocinado pela Elicpse Foudation e pode ser encontrado em http://www.eclipse.org/epf/. Você pode utilizar em seu treinamento não só o COMPOSE, que é a ferramenta utilizada para descrever os processos, mas também os processos OpenUP, XP e Scrum que estão disponíveis como demonstração.
Não precisa baixar o eclipse e instalar os plugins pois o EPF Compose já vem completo e pode ser baixado em: http://www.eclipse.org/epf/downloads/downloads.php

Acessar o DOS, na pasta em que encontra-se o executável EPF.exe e digitar o seguinte comando epf.exe -nl “pt_BR“
O EPF será acessado carregando a nova linguagem.
Após esse acesso (através do DOS) o EPF será automaticamente carregado em Português.
Porém segui estas instruções, e continua em inglês. Um colega de pós disse-me que lá pela 3a. vez que for corregado, passa a aparecer em português…. Porém até o presente momento, continua em inglês.

estamos tentando utilizar o EPF para disponibilizar todos os documentos referentes à processos (modelagem de fluxos e procedimentos documentados), porém temos algumas dúvidas ainda:
1) – O EPF roda em qual linguagem?
2) – Quais os pré-requisitos HW e SW para utilização do mesmo?
3) – É possível na “descrição de uma atividade” eu disponibilizar um “link” para um documento?
4) – Quando eu exporto para WEB é possível criar uma opção de busca no “portal” gerado? Por exemplo, ao invés de abrir todos os sub-processos, eu posso “buscar” diretamente o que eu preciso.
